Hello, world!

My name is Leonid Lukin. Originally I'm from Moscow, but now I live and work where I want. My main occupation is product design of online services. He began to draw seriously in 2017, while working on a project in Kuala Lumpur.

My life as an expat was such that I spent almost all my free time on walks and trips near KL. Inspired by the passion for drawing among oriental artists and sketchers, I began to take a notebook with me on trips. And so I do to this day. Little by little, the number of drawings increased, and with it the quality of the image grew. Nowdays I paint in both ink and watercolor and sell physical works on demand, as well as illustrate books.

I studied art in Moscow at the animation school and with my friend N.Tuikina, she paints wonderfully in watercolor. I am inspired by Anime and Manga, for example, I watched the Akira cartoon 6 or 7 times, and Howl's Moving Castle even more. Favorite painters are Hieronymus Bosch and Pieter Brueghel the Elder. As for illustrations, I appreciate books with illustrations by Sean Tan, Codex Seraphinianus - a book by Luigi Serafini, illustrations by Ernst Haeckel and the Russian couple Olga and Andrey Dugin.

I am attentive to details, so the drawing reflects my vision of the world. It may seem that I am trying to depict everything as it is, but this is not so, I even like it when the drawings turn out to be asymmetrical, with a distorted perspective. I never know what will happen, but I let the drawing be born. I love to draw nature.

It seems that the habit of spending time contemplating landscapes was inherited from my father when, as a child, he took me fishing with him. I spend a lot of time drawing, often 3-5 hours in a row.

In a sense, my notebooks are a diary. And I'm happy to show you some sheets.
